IPL mini auction 2024

The IPL mini auction 2024 will not take place, as the IPL 2024 will be preceded by a mega auction. The mini auction is usually held for the teams to fill the gaps in their squads, after the release and retention of players. How many players can be retained in IPL 2024

On November 26, the 10 IPL franchises collectively released 174 players. Among them, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Chennai Super Kings retained the highest number of players, with each team holding onto 19 players. In contrast, Kolkata Knight Riders retained the fewest players, with only 13 remaining on their roster.

IPL 2024 retention rules:

  • The teams can retain up to three players from their previous squads, with a maximum of two overseas players.
  • The teams have to pay a certain amount of money to retain the players, which will be deducted from their auction purse.
  • The retention rules also apply to the two new teams, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, who can retain up to three players from the existing pool.
  • The players who are not retained will go to the mega auction, where they can be bid by any team.
